Why this course is different?

OBJECTIVES FOR THE STEM CELL TRAINING COURSE

Describe the basics of cellular biology and list the properties that dene stem cells. Identify the various types of cellular divisions and types of stem cells, along with their characteristics.

Dene Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and identify the growth factors and proteins that cause the natural healing cascade. List currently treated conditions, such as orthopedic conditions, treated with Platelet Rich Plasma.

Describe the current regulatory environment for regenerative therapeutics, Review current state laws and regulations that inuence the stem cell industry. Review the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FDA) of 1938 and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and how they apply to stem cell therapy.

Describe Induced Pluripotent (iPS) Stem Cells and recall the criterion that denes a true iPS, as well as some of the clinical applications of iPS.

Describe how Adipose Derived Stem Cells (ADSCs) function, recognize the conditions treated by ADSCs, and recall how to isolate ADSCs.

Describe how Bone Marrow Derived Stem Cells (BMDSCs) function, recognize the conditions treated by BMDSCs, and recall how to isolate BMDSCs.

Identify the difference between Adipose Derived Stem Cells and Bone Marrow Derived Stem Cells.

Identify the difference between human Embryotic Stem Cells (hESCs) and the legal/ethical issues aecting the cell technology.

Describe the Stem Cell Banking process and name the steps from removing the tissue sample from the patient to delivering the cells back into the patient.

List conditions currently treated with cellular therapies and incorporate guidelines to improve comprehension of current research and evidence for stem cell therapy.
